Intimacy, Science, and the Sacrament

Email : 34

Sex isn’t dirty. It isn’t casual. It’s sacred. And your body knows it.

Culture says sex is a recreational sport. The Church often says sex is a secret sin. Both are wrong.

God invented sex before sin entered the world. It’s a sacrament, not a scandal. And like all sacraments, it’s powerful, holy, and dangerous outside its design.

Your Body Is a Temple

Paul wasn’t a prude. He was a biologist of the soul:

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Temple. Not playground. Not rental unit. Temple.

Sex joins more than bodies. It joins souls. That’s why hookups leave you empty. You used a sacrament like a snack. Your soul knows the difference.

Flee, Don’t Flirt

Joseph didn’t negotiate with temptation. He ran.

“But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.” Genesis 39:12

Paul told Timothy the same: “Flee the evil desires of youth.” 2 Timothy 2:22. Not fight. Flee.

Boundaries aren’t legalism. They’re wisdom. If you wouldn’t trust yourself alone with them at midnight, don’t be alone with them at noon.

Sex Is Covenant Glue

Sex was designed to seal a covenant, not create one.

“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

One flesh. Not one night. The glue is strong. Use it on cardboard and it rips your soul when it breaks.

Save the sacrament for the covenant. It’s not repression. It’s protection.

Field Notes for This Week

1. Set a physical boundary. What’s your line before marriage? Write it. Share it with a friend for accountability.

2. Delete one trigger. App, account, show. If it feeds lust, cut it. “If your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out.” Matthew 5:29.

3. Reframe the narrative. Sex isn’t dirty. It’s holy. Thank God for designing it. Shame kills intimacy. Honour restores it.

Closing Line

The world cheapens sex by making it casual. Religion cheapens sex by making it dirty.

The Kingdom restores sex by making it holy. Wait for the covenant. The sacrament is worth it.
