US, Iran Unveil 14-Point Peace Framework to End Hostilities

Email : 28

The United States and Iran have agreed on a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending ongoing hostilities and paving the way for a comprehensive peace agreement between both countries.

According to details released by U.S. officials, the memorandum provides for the immediate cessation of military operations between the two nations and their allies, while committing both sides to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other.

The agreement also provides for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping and outlines steps to restore maritime activities in the Gulf region.

Iran is expected to facilitate the safe passage of commercial vessels, while the United States will begin a phased withdrawal of blockade measures and military restrictions linked to the conflict.

Under the framework, both countries will enter a 60-day negotiation period, expected to begin in Switzerland, to resolve outstanding issues and work toward a permanent settlement.

The memorandum further outlines plans for the gradual easing of sanctions on Iran, subject to future agreements, and includes provisions aimed at supporting Iran’s economic recovery and reintegration into international financial systems.

On the nuclear issue, Iran reaffirmed its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons and agreed to engage with international oversight mechanisms as part of broader negotiations.

Discussions on nuclear materials and compliance measures are expected to form a key part of the upcoming talks. An implementation mechanism will be established to monitor compliance with the memorandum, while both sides seek to conclude a final agreement that could eventually be endorsed through a United Nations Security Council resolution.

The memorandum is being viewed as a significant diplomatic step toward reducing tensions in the Middle East, although several major issues remain subject to further negotiations.
